The 6 Levels of Asset Valuation & Appraisal Services.
Level 1 condition survey, records review and valuation, is the most detailed package of services offered by Ascend and is typically carried out for the purpose of a high value / high risk aircraft purchase or lease return.
The condition survey would typically involve, the aircraft being in a maintenance hangar, with full access necessary to the structural areas. The optimum time to complete the survey would be during a routine maintenance input and includes sampling of areas such as under floor and lower fuselage structural, engine boroscope videos, flight test etc.
The aircraft records review is a total audit and physical inspection of all the records and associated documentation, no sampling methods are used.
The valuation is the most representative possible as it allows detailed adjustments for physical condition in addition to the market factors.
Level 2 package provides a less detailed assessment of the aircraft and would typically be performed to gain a good understanding of the aircraft's condition and records for ongoing assessment, of a more high risk lessee, the basis for deal negotiation etc.
A thorough general condition survey of the aircraft is completed but without gaining access to areas such as underfloor structure. Access is limited to the opening of engine cowls, etc inspecting from the ground and access steps where necessary.
The records review is a combination of physical verification and sampling, and requires the return of a completed Ascend aircraft data sheet prior to the inspection. The Current Market Valuation is adjusted for the various aspects highlighted in the report, including AD/SB compliance.
Level 3 package would typically be used to gain a general valuation and understanding of the aircraft’s condition and status of the records, typically for a Financier / Lessor assessing ongoing asset condition / value or as the first stage of an aircraft purchase.
The condition survey is based on a general walk around inspection and typically involves approximately two - four hours with the aircraft to establish the general condition, more for larger aircraft.
The technical records review is based on sampling and checking the aircraft records against the previously completed aircraft data sheet. This establishes their existence / condition and verifies the data provided by the operator for the potential purposes of valuation.
Level 4 is a detailed valuation completed on a desk-top basis only and relies on unverified data provided by the operator / owner as the basis of the calculations. This is the most representative form of valuation outside of physical inspection and records validation.
Level 5 service provides a guide to the value of an aircraft based on data drawn from Ascend Online, incorporating adjustments for specification data where known (e.g. age, hours/cycles, MTOW, configuration).
Level 6 service provides a guide only to the valuation based on generic data drawn from Ascend Online. This would typically be used for planning and assessing potential deals / purchases and may be the starting point for more in depth work. Obviously, the extent of the work associated with levels 1, 2 and 3 is heavily dependent on the age, location, operation, utilisation and type of aircraft and is therefore quoted individually.
The world’s leading aviation financiers and lessors depend on Ascend’s appraisal services to understand the market for assets, past, current and future value prospects and the technical issues surrounding an asset from a risk and ownership perspective.
