More Start-up airlines
A quick round-up of some more new airlines planning to start operations…
The first aircraft for the new French airline Oxygene Afrique is currently being prepared before entering service. They will fly a Boeing 767-300ER on long haul routes to Africa from Paris (reportedly Charles de Gaulle). Services to Bamako in Mali will compete against Air France, Aigle Azur and Compagnie Aerienne du Mali, while Dakar in Senegal will be served with competition from Air France and Corsairfly.
A new Bangladeshi airline called Regent Airways will begin regional services this summer. They are planning to acquire two Bombardier Dash 8-300 aircraft that will come from the German regional carrier Augsburg Airways. Regent later plan to add a pair of Boeing 757-200’s followed by two widebody types to start international services. The airline has been established by the Habib Group, a Bangladeshi conglomerate who has interests in the paper, textiles, steel, shares and security industries amongst others.
