Answer: The potential cost of non-compliance, in terms of the penalties to the operator, is huge – €100 for each certificate, plus the market cost of the certificates required. For one Boeing 777 flying a daily transatlantic trip, that can mean a penalty in the range of €18 million – enough to buy one engine, brand-new, outright.
